Activision Confirms Work On 'Modern Warfare (2019)' Remaster

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare sequel reportedly in development for 2025 | Shacknews

In exciting news for fans of the popular first-person shooter franchise, Activision has confirmed that it is working on a remastered version of last decade's hit title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019). The announcement was made by an Activision representative during an industry event and follows closely on the heels of the recent release of this year's newest entry into the series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022).

The original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) was released in October of last year as a soft reboot of the iconic Modern Warfare subseries. Set prior to the events of the original Modern Warfare trilogy, the game tells the story of a fictional conflict between the United States and Russia, with players taking on the roles of various soldiers and special operatives from both sides. While reviews were generally positive upon its initial release, some critics felt that the campaign was overly dark and grim compared to previous installments. Nevertheless, the multiplayer mode proved to be very popular among fans, who praised its fast-paced action and wide variety of maps and modes.

Given the success of the original release and fan demand for a remaster, it comes as no surprise that Activision would choose to revisit the game with improved graphics and other enhancements. No further details have been announced at this time, including a release date or pricing information. However, given the company's track record of releasing remastered versions of its popular games within two years of their original launch dates, it is possible that we could see Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) Remaster sometime later this year or early next year.

In the meantime, fans can continue to enjoy Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022), which launched earlier this month and features several returning characters and locations from the beloved Modern Warfare series. With the addition of the upcoming remaster, it looks like there will be plenty of opportunities for players to experience the thrilling gunplay and intense missions that make Call of Duty so popular.
